Signaling & SS7 Components

Signaling & SS7 Components

Dialogic offers two lines of SS7 and SIGTRAN signaling components: Dialogic® Distributed Signaling Interface (DSI) Components for distributed execution via boards, protocol stacks and servers and Dialogic® TX Series boards, SS7 and SIGTRAN stacks.

Signaling Boards

Dialogic® DSI Boards are designed for interface to SS7 and ATM networks. The DSI SS7HD boards (SS7HDC, SS7HDP, and SS7HDE) offer high density and high capacity connections with host or board protocol execution in three different form factors. The SS7MDL4 supports both SS7 and ATM network connection in a PCI Express, low profile board. The SPCI is an ideal PCI option for lower density SS7 network traffic.

Dialogic® TX Series SS7 Boards offer a range of form factors, throughput capacity, and signaling protocol support that work in conjunction with Dialogic® NaturalAccess™ Signaling Software. The TX Series architecture combines TDM connectivity and transport with the SS7 and SIGTRAN protocol layers required for a higher-level application interface. The TX Series boards are available with MTP only or MTP, ISUP, TUP, SCCP, and TCAP layers of the SS7 stack running on board processors. In addition, the SIGTRAN foundation layers, SCTP and M3UA, can be included for SS7 over IP connections.

If you are interested in non-SS7 signaling boards that do low-level data manipulation such as digitizing, compressing, and storing telephony signals and PBX integration, go to our Signaling Boards section in the TDM Boards and Software area.

Signaling Software

Dialogic® DSI SS7 and SIGTRAN Protocol Stacks are an integral part of the DSI run-time environment that coordinates the execution of signaling operations between the application host, the SS7 interface boards, and remote signaling servers. The protocol layers supported appear in this summary list and are described in more detail in the datasheet.

Signaling Servers and Gateways

Dialogic® DSI Signaling Servers are high-performance, distributed signaling systems designed for high capacity, high availability, and rapid signaling integration. The DSI Signaling Servers perform two distinct functions in carrier networks: The Dialogic® DSI Signaling Interface Unit manages signaling link monitoring and termination for distributed application servers and the Dialogic® Signaling Gateway provides transport between TDM SS7 traffic and SS7 over IP (SIGTRAN). What is SS7

Signaling System Number 7 (SS7) is a set of telephony signaling protocols which are used to set up most of the world's public switched telephone network telephone calls. The main purpose is to set up and tear down telephone calls. Other uses include number translation, prepaid billing mechanisms, short message service (SMS), and a variety of other mass market services. More on Wikipedia
